Dr. Susan Wylegala
Veterinarian and owner of Cheektowaga Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Susan Wylegala is a native of Buffalo. After graduating from Mount St. Joseph Academy, Dr. Wylegala moved to Rochester and attended the University of Rochester. In 1981, after 4 years of undergraduate studies, Dr. Wylegala received her B.S. Degree in microbiology.
After completing her undergraduate studies, Dr. Wylegala was admitted to the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. She was awarded her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1988.
Dr. Wylegala is active in numerous veterinary organizations and associations. She is the current secretary and past president of the Western New York Chapter of the New York State Veterinary Medical Society. She is also a board member of the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society and is a lecturer at the University of Buffalo Medical School's Mini Veterinary School Program. In both 2001 and 2005, she was the recipient of a Regional Merit Award form the Western New York Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Wylegala's special interests include pet behavior and general medicine and surgery. She schedules continuing education programs in the hospital for doctors and nurses as well as attends continuing education meetings outside the hospital.Working in her garden, cycling and snow skiing are some of Dr. Wylegala’s favorite leisure activities. At home, she enjoys spending time with her 4 cats – Ralph, Stella, Stash and Freida.
Dr. Stephanie Wolf Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Stephanie Wolf attended Cornell University and graduated in 1996 with an A.B. Degree in German Literature. Following graduation, she was admitted to Cornell University’s School of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Throughout her studies, Dr. Wolf received numerous citations for her academic achievements. She was a Dean’s List student and was awarded the prestigious title of Cornell National Scholar.
Dr. Wolf maintains professional membership in the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society, the Western New York Veterinary Medical Society and the Erie County Chapter of the Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team (SMART). She has volunteered her services at rabies vaccination clinics and has worked at feral cat shelters. Away from the veterinary hospital, Dr. Wolf enjoys playing tennis, swimming, reading, shopping and target shooting. A former cat breeder, she is a member of the Cat Fanciers Association.
Dr. Wolf lives with her 3 American shorthair cats. Their names are William, Cloudy and Orion.
