Over the last couple of months there has been considerable discussion regarding requirements for canine travel into the United States from Canada. As many of our clients have cottages in Canada or vacation in Canada, this is the LATEST information that we have.
The requirements were initially quite daunting but have been modified significantly due to public backlash.
The current requirements for returning to the United States from Canada are:
- Your dog must appear healthy
- Your dog must be 6 months of age or older
- They must have a universal microchip implanted
- They must be up to date on the Rabies vaccine
- As the owner, you must fill out the CDC Dog import form, which can be found on the CDC website.

Remember, these requirements are not to get into Canada, they are to get back into the United States.
