Halloween can be an incredibly fun evening for the entire family but there are some important safety tips for our pets.
- Keep all candles and Halloween decorations out of reach
- Make sure your pets have identification, such as a microchip, collar and ID tags, that can be used for someone to return them if they escape through an open door
- Do NOT feed them ANY Halloween treats. Chocolate, raisins, some nuts are toxic and some candy contains xylitol, a sugar free substitute, that is toxic.
- Glow sticks if chewed are very irritating to the mouth.
- If you have a costume for your pet, make sure it fits properly, make sure it does not block vision and that no parts can be removed and swallowed.
- For most pets, the constant door bell, knocking and children dressed in costumes can be very stressful and frightening. It may be best to confine your pet to a safe room in your home so there is no chance for them to run away accidentally.
